Forward Alpi Akter scored a brace as Bangladesh began their SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship campaign with a 3-1 win over hosts Bhutan at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu on Wednesday.
Bangladesh went into the break with one goal lead as forward Sauravi Amanda Prity scored in the third minute of the stoppage time of the first half.
Alpi doubled the lead in the 54th minute before Bhutan midfielder Rinzin Meda Choden pulled one goal back for her side in the 62nd minute.
Alpi scored her second and team’s final goal just four minutes later.
Despite the win, Bangladesh coach Mahbubur Rahaman Litu was not satisfied with tea team’s performance.Â
‘Feeling good that we have won the game. But we made some mistakes in the game. Now we need to rectify those before the next match,’ said Litu.
In their next game, Bangladesh will play two-time champions India on Friday before facing 2022 champions Nepal on August 24 and 27.
They will play Bhutan and India again in the other matches on August 29 and 31, respectively, in the double-leg format tournament.
