
The National Book Centre and AAaKaKha have jointly taken an initiative to organise reading circles at the book centre at Gulistan in Dhaka.
As part of the initiative, a reading circle was held on fiction writer Shawkat Ali-written book ‘Pradoshe Prakritajan’ on Sunday.
The reading circle was attended by, among others, fiction writer and National Book Centre director Afsana Begum and fiction writer Ahmad Mostofa Kamal.
Readers and writers talked about the book and asked Ahmad Mostofa Kamal various questions. Afsana Begum also made comments about the book.
Reading circle makes people aware of society in line with modern times and increases civic awareness. Therefore, the reading circle can play an important role as co-education in the educational programme, they mentioned.Â
Afsana Begum also said that they would like to organise a reading circle every 20 days.
‘Pradoshe Prakritajan’, based on the story of the life and struggle of the people of lowest socioeconomic stratum, is a novel written about the time when Muslim rule was beginning in this region after the end of Hindu rule.
