
The Indian Border Security Force on Friday pushed two more people, including a Rohingya man, into Bangladesh through a border point under Baralekha upazila in Moulvibazar district.
With the new push-ins, the number of people, including Rohingyas and Indian nationals, pushed into Bangladesh by the BSF since May 7 has increased to 2,127.
The Indian border force has so far pushed at least 174 Rohingyas, including 50 registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in India, into Bangladesh.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Haque Chowdhury, commanding officer of 52 Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh, said that the BFS personnel pushed a Bangladeshi man and a Rohingya man into Bangladesh through the Borail border point under the Barlekha upazila early Friday.
He said that the BGB personnel of Pallathal border outpost detained the duo immediately after they had been pushed into Bangladesh.
They were handed over to Baralekha police station Friday evening after confirming their identities, he said.聽
Barlekha police station officer-in-charge Abul Kasem Sarker said on Saturday afternoon that they were preparing to send the detained Ruhinya to Ukiah refugee camp in Cox鈥檚 Bazar and the detained Bangladesh national was handed over to his relatives Saturday morning.
