Fisheries and livestock adviser Farida Akhter at a programme in Dhaka on Saturday urged to build a country where human rights would not be violated.

Farida Akhter made the remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed six-story building of Dhaka Central Girls High School, said a press release.

Attending the event as chief guest, she said, ‘We have to keep in mind that many students, youths and common people of the country have embraced martyrdom and became crippled by losing their eyes in the July uprising.’

She also joined a reception accorded to the meritorious students, who passed the SSC examination in 2025 at the same venue.

Mentioning that Roquiah Sakhawat Hussain have established many educational institutions for Muslim women so that they could take education in an independent environment where various extra-curricular activities and cultural functions were organised along with providing education, Farida said that reading book was not the only way of acquiring knowledge as the history had changed many times.

‘Teachers should teach the real history of the country to the students to make them aware about the country and the nation as well,’ she urged.

Referring to security issues of the girl students, Farida Akhter said that the district administration, police administration and local political leaders would have to take the responsibilities to ensure safety and security of the students in and outside the educational institutions.
