A toddler and an elderly man were among four people who were killed in road accidents in Bogura, Sherpur and Netrakona districts on Saturday.聽

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that in Bogura, a woman and a baby girl were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar upazila.聽


The deceased were Rehena Begum, of Gopalbari area in Sadar upazila, and one-year-old baby Jobaida, daughter of Didarul Islam Jihad of Mokamtala Bandar in Shibganj upazila of the district.

Rehena Begum was killed when a motorcycle hit her at about 8:15am while she was crossing the road in front of Matidali Biman crossing.

Critically injured Rehena and bike rider M Naeem were taken to TMSS Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared Rehena dead, said Kunderhat Highway Police officer-in-charge Hafizur Rahman.

Another accident took place in front of TMSS Hospital, when a private car hit a road divider as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving its baby passenger Jobaida dead on the spot and other family members injured, OC Hafizur said.

The injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Another report of BSS reported that in Sherpur district, an elderly man was killed on Jhenaigati-Sherpur road when a bus ran over him at Julgaon of Jhenaigati upazila.

The deceased was identified as Ashraf Ali, 80, a resident of the same area.

The BSS reported that in Netrakona district, an elderly man was killed and another injured on Netrokona-Mymensingh highway when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a covered van in Sakura area under Sadar upazila.聽聽

The deceased was Md Haresh Mia, 60, of Baham village under Kalmakanda upazila of the district.

Netrokona Model Police officer-in-charge Kazi Shahnewaz said that locals took them to Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared Haresh dead.
