Nari Unnayan Shakti celebrated its 33rd founding anniversary in Dhaka on Thursday.
Established in 1992 in the Khilgaon area of Dhaka, this women-led, non-profit, and non-political organisation believes that women鈥檚 empowerment, education, health and security are essential for achieving sustainable development, said a press release.
It has so far implemented 79 projects with the support of 49 donors and partners.
The organisation鈥檚 key achievements include providing basic education to over 1,25,000 women and men; offering vocational training to over 25,000 people, enabling them to become skilled workers; rehabilitating over 2,600 commercial sex workers into socially accepted professions and mainstream society; delivering healthcare, awareness, and preventive materials to millions for HIV and malaria prevention; contributing to child and women protection, legal aid, and prevention of violent extremism at the community level.
