The Bangla translation of Australian journalist Antony Loewenstein鈥檚 bestselling investigative work The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports the Technology of Occupation Around the World will be released on October 25, 2025.
Anvil Publications, which will publish the translation, has signed an official agreement with the book鈥檚 international publishing agency, Zeitgeist Agency, according to a press release. The translation has been carried out by a team of journalists 鈥� Badhan Adhikari, Saeed Hasan, Tasnia Islam, Mustakim Billah Masum, and Zahidul Islam John.
Originally published in English, The Palestine Laboratory exposes how Israel has, for decades, used the occupied Palestinian territories as a testing ground for surveillance and military technologies, later exporting them to authoritarian and imperial powers worldwide. Drawing on leaked documents, first-hand interviews, and on-the-ground reporting, the book links Israel鈥檚 military-industrial complex to the global rise of ethno-nationalism and the tightening of state control over civilian populations.
In a statement, Badhan Adhikari, proprietor of Anvil Publications and one of the translators, said the book鈥檚 themes are highly relevant to Bangladesh. 鈥業n the context of Bangladesh鈥檚 prevailing political reality, understanding The Palestine Laboratory is essential to grasping the intertwined issues of surveillance, repression, and the shrinking space for free civic life 鈥� both offline and in the digital sphere,鈥� he noted.
Adhikari added that the translation team worked for nearly a year to ensure the text remained simple, fluent and faithful to the original. 鈥業f the book resonates with readers, that will be our greatest success,鈥� he said.
