A group of protesters, claiming themselves as July fighters and family members of uprising martyrs, continued to block at Shahbagh crossing for the second day on Friday, demanding implementation of the July Charter and the July Declaration.

The blockade of one of the busiest crossings in the city, which began at about 11:00am on Thursday, halted vehicular movement, causing suffering to the city people amid rain.

Kamrul Hasan, co-spokesperson of July Joddha Sangsad (July warriors’ platform), told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Friday morning that no one from the government communicated with the protesters, although 24 hours had passed.

‘Protesters will not leave the streets till the demands are met,’ said Kamrul.

The three demands, including the immediate implementation of the July Charter and the July Declaration, and incorporating the two documents into the constitution.

Building a makeshift stage there and chanting different slogans, the protesters pressed their demands. They also stayed at the crossing at night.

Protesters said that they would be considered as criminals for participating in the uprising if the charter and declaration were not implemented and those were not incorporated in the constitution.

Earlier on different occasions, July uprising protesters, including the injured ones, and families of uprising martyrs, took to the streets pressing for different demands.
