A woman was killed as an intercity train ran her over in College Station area in Nilphamari district town here this morning.
The deceased Hena Begum, 42, is the wife of Rafiqul Islam of Paschim Patkamuri village in Kundapukur union of Sadar upazila.
Locals said that the housewife was walking on the railway line in College Station area at around 9.30am when she was run over by the Khulna-bound Rupsha Express train. She died on the spot.
Mahmud-un Nabi, officer-in-charge of Syedpur railway police station, confirmed the matter.
The body was handed over to the family, he added.
