
At least seven people were killed and 41 others injured in road accidents in Faridpur, Sunamganj and Madaripur districts on Thursday.
Three people were killed and 25 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the Karimpur area under Sadar upazila of Faridpur district, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state-run news agency.
The deceased were bus driver Sabu Sheikh, son of Manik Sheikh of Kershail village at Boalmari upazila, and passenger Abdul Mannan. The identity of a female who was killed in the accident could not be confirmed immediately.
Faridpur superintendent of police Abdul Jalil said that the injured were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
抖阴精品 staff correspondent in Sylhet reported that a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver and a four-year-old girl were killed and six others were injured in a road accident at Shantiganj upazila in Sunamganj.
The deceased Pradyut Chakrabarti, 35, is a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver and son of Pratul Ranjan Chakrabarti of Dhulpashi village at Derai upazila in the district, and Humaira Begum, 4, is daughter of Hasan Ali of Kadirpur Dhalgram village at the same upazila.
Local residents said that the accident took place at about 1:30pm when a Sunamganj-bound human hauler collided head-on with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Derai-Madanpur road in Gagli area under Joykalas union at Shantiganj upazila in the district.
Shantiganj police station officer-in-charge Md Akram Ali said that the seven injured people were sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for treatment after rescuing them from the spot, but Humaira died on the way to the hospital and the rest were admitted to the hospital.
The BSS reported that a man and his daughter-in-law were killed and 10 others injured when a microbus hit a covered van on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway at Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district.
The deceased were Masud Biswas, 55, son of late Dhala Biswas, a resident of Ramakantapur under Saltha upazila in Faridpur district and his daughter-in-law Firoza Begum, 28, wife of Mamun Biswas.
Shibchar Highway Police Station OC Zahirul Islam said that the injured were taken to different hospitals.
