
Vice-chancellor of the Bangladesh Medical University Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam at a programme in Dhaka on Thursday said that by embodying the spirit of the July uprising, a society and state with non-discrimination and justice must be established in the future.
He made the remark while delivering address at the programme at the BMU, which was organised to mark the anniversary of the July uprising, said a press release.
The programme featured a video documentary exhibition on the contribution of students and people and doctors, nurses and health workers in the July Uprising and a discussion on July Uprising.
Health education and family welfare department secretary Dr Md Sarwar Bari was present as special guest at the discussion, which was presided over by Md Shahinul Alam.
Shahinul Alam also said that the BMU must be built in such a way that patients come and get advanced treatment and patients feel that they do not need to go abroad for treatment.
The officials and employees will be endowed with much more human qualities, he added.
BMU pro-VC for administration Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, pro-VC research and development Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Hawlader, treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, planning and development director Dr Erfanul Haque Siddiqui, and July Mass Uprising Day Celebration Steering Committee member Dr Md Ruhul Quddus Biplob, among others, spoke at the programme.
President of the Documentary and Picture Exhibition Committee and faculty of dentistry dean of BMU Dr Shakhawat Hossain delivered welcome speech at the programme, which was moderated by BMU registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam.
