A one-day state mourning was observed on Tuesday over deaths in Monday鈥檚 crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet on the campus of Milestone School and College in Dhaka鈥檚 Diabari area, which left at least 31 people dead and 165 injured as of Tuesday evening.
The national flag was kept at half-mast at all government, semi-government, and autonomous offices, as well as at all educational institutions across the country.
Special prayers were offered at religious institutions and places of worship across the country for the eternal peace of the departed souls and for the quick recovery of the injured people.
The government declared a one-day state mourning for Tuesday following the crash of the fighter jet BAF F-7 BGI on the Milestone School and College campus Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, more countries鈥攊ncluding China and Japan鈥攁s well as various organisations, continued to extend their heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.
In separate condolence messages on Tuesday, China and Japan expressed deep sorrow for the victims, extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka, the Bangladesh Police Service Association, the Bangladesh Tennis Federation and the Manabadhikar Shongskriti Foundation also expressed their condolences in separate messages. 聽
