Sayef Ahmed has been appointed as country production leader of Decathlon Bangladesh, said a press release.
He joined Decathlon in 2014 as a production leader. He brings with him over a decade of experience across sourcing, manufacturing excellence, and strategic partnerships — including an international tenure as purchase director (woven apparel) in France.
‘I am honoured to lead a team that has always been close to my heart. Bangladesh has incredible potential, and I am excited to continue building a collaborative, sustainable, and high-performing production ecosystem. Together with our local partners and teammates, we will keep innovating to make sports accessible to more people, both locally and globally,’ said Sayef Ahmed.Â
Decathlon’s investment in Bangladesh goes beyond sourcing — it is about creating long-term value. With over 2,000 local teammates engaged directly or through suppliers, Bangladesh remains one of Decathlon’s top three sourcing countries globally (10 per cent of sourcing). The company continues to drive local recruitment, supplier upskilling, and sustainability initiatives — all of which contribute to Bangladesh’s growing influence in the international sporting goods landscape, the release said.
‘Sayef’s appointment marks a significant step in our journey to reinforce local leadership and foster a stronger, more resilient value chain in Bangladesh,’ said Fred, head of global production at Decathlon.
Deepak D’souza, production zone director – South Asia, added, ‘His story is a testament to the talent, drive, and potential that exists within our Bangladeshi teams — qualities we are proud to champion and invest in.’
Decathlon is a global multi-specialist sports brand manufacturing sporting goods for all skill levels.
