
At the initiative of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, the first phase of Town Defence Team basic training was inaugurated in low-income areas of four zones under Dhaka metropolitan city on Sunday.
Under the guidance of the director general of the force Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, the 10-day training programme is being conducted simultaneously at five centres in different slum areas of Dhaka city, said a press release.
Sixty-four men and 64 women are participating in each centre in the programme.
The training centres are located in the areas of at Dhalpur鈥檚 City Rural Slums, Mohammadpur鈥檚 Adabar and Chandrima slums, Gulshan鈥檚 Karail Slum and Mirpur-11鈥檚 Pora Slum.
The main objective of the TDP basic training programme is to develop the skills and create employment opportunities for the youth of the marginalised and low-income communities of the city.
In addition, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP forces are optimistic that this training will play an effective role in controlling various social problems in the society such as juvenile delinquency and drug addiction, mentioned the press release.
