Sajeeb Bepari, arrested in the case of killing the scrap trader Md Sohag on the Mitford Hospital premises has confessed responsibility of the murder and given a confessional statement.

With this, four accused have given confessional statements in the case.


Sajeeb Bepari, 27, was produced before the Dhaka chief metropolitan magistrate court after being remanded for five days.

The investigating officer of the case and the officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station Md Moniruzzaman requested to record his statement as he had willingly agreed to give a confessional statement.

In view of the application, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Monirul Islam recorded his statement. Then he ordered to send him to jail.

On the other hand, Rajib Bepari was produced before the court after a five-day remand and requested to put him behind the bar until the investigation into the case is completed.

On July 13, at around 3:30am, Sajeeb Bepari and Md Rajib Bepari were arrested in a raid in Netrakona district. The next day, on July 14, the court granted them a five-day remand in this case.

On July 17, accused Titon Gazi, Md Alamgir and Monir alias Lomba Monir confessed their responsibility and gave confessional statements in court.

On July 9, around 6:00pm, a group of people brutally beat to death Lal Chand alias Sohag, a scrap metal trader on the premises of Mitford Hospital. The next day, the deceased鈥檚 elder sister, Manjuara Begum, filed a murder case against 19 people with the Kotwali police. Fifteen to twenty other unidentified people were made accused in the case.

The deceased, Md Sohag, was son of Yusuf Ali Howlader of Purba Namabari village under Keraniganj.

He had been running a scrap metal business at Rajni Ghosh Lane 4 in Mitford area for long.
