The Border Guard Bangladesh seized huge consignments of smuggled goods worth around Tk 6 crore in separate drives at different border points in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts on Friday.

In a press briefing at the BGB 48 battalion headquarters at Akhalia in Sylhet, commanding officer of the battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque said that the BGB personnel of Pratappur, Damdamia, Shreepur and Bichhnakandi outposts in Sylhet and Sonali Chela in Sunamganj conducted the drives based on prior information. 


The BGB personnel seized huge amounts of Indian products, including saris, cosmetics, chocolates, sunglasses and cows.

Besides, an especial patrol team of the BGB Sylhet headquarters battalion conducted a drive at the same time at an abandoned warehouse of Gowainghat and seized huge numbers of cosmetic products and medicines, he said.

‘Market price of the seized goods smuggled from India would be about TK 6 crore,’ the BGB official said, adding that efforts were underway to handover the seized goods to the concerned police stations for taking necessary legal steps.
