The Border Security Force of India took away three Bangladeshi youths from Kulaura upazila in Moulvibaar at about midnight past Thursday, while they were fishing in a marshland inside Bangladesh.

The three youths are Sipar Ahmed, 22, son of  Tayab Ali, and Masuk Rahman, 20, son of Jalal Miah, of Haripur village under Sharifpur union in Kulaura, and Sohag Miah, 23, son of Anu Miah of Sanjarpur village at the same union, local union parishad former member Harun Miah said.


Referring to the family members of the abducted three, Harun Miah told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the three youths were catching fish using torchlights in a marshland inside the Bangladesh territory at Haripur border point in Sharifpur at about midnight past Thursday.

At one point, a BSF patrol team crossed to the Bangladesh territory and confined the three youths saying that they were smugglers and took them to the Indian territory, Harun said.

‘I also informed the Border Guard Bangladesh personnel at the Lalachak border outpost in our area in this regard,’ he said.

Kulaura police officer-in-charge Md Omar Faruk told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Friday evening that they learned about the incident about noon through the local residents.

‘But, relatives of the victims or the BGB authorities did not submit any complaint or record a general diary with the police so far,’ he added, saying that the BGB authorities were looking into the incident.

BGB 46 Battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel ASM Zakaria, however could not be reached for comments over phone.Â
