
The Supreme Judicial Appointment Council, led by chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, has scheduled July 18-19 to conduct viva voce interviews of at least 60 shortlisted candidates for the posts of additional High Court judges.
A source told 抖阴精品 that the council has phoned the shortlisted candidates, asking them to appear for the viva voce, which will be held at the Supreme Court building from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Friday and Saturday, both weekly holidays.
Earlier, the council received nearly 300 applications in response to a public notice and shortlisted 60 candidates through an initial screening and review process.
He said that the council will recommend at least 25 candidates for appointment.
The application process began on May 28, when the Supreme Court Registrar issued a public notice inviting interested candidates to apply.
Applicants were asked to submit their forms along with a passport-sized photo by June 22, either by post or in person to the Registrar General鈥檚 Office of the Supreme Court.
This marks the first round of applications under the newly formed Supreme Judicial Appointment Council, established through an ordinance issued by the interim government on January 21. The council was created under Article 95 of the Constitution, which was adopted in 1971 but had not been fully implemented until now.
The SJAC is now responsible for recommending names for appointments to the Supreme Court.
The notice also clarified that those who had already submitted their applications do not need to reapply.
