Al Mamun, Founder and President of the International Ethnosport Bangladesh Association, paid a courtesy call on Bernd Spanier, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh, at the EU office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the meeting aimed to strengthen cultural cooperation and explore joint initiatives in the field of ethnosports. Both sides discussed the growing role of ethnosports as a bridge between cultures and a means of fostering international unity.


During the meeting, Mamun presented an overview of IEBA’s ongoing activities and future plans, highlighting the association’s mission to position Bangladesh as a key player in the global ethnosport arena. He emphasized ethnosports as a unique platform for intercultural dialogue, youth development, and international cooperation.

Spanier praised IEBA’s contributions to cultural exchange through sport and expressed optimism about future collaboration. ‘The EU values platforms like ethnosport for their ability to connect communities, preserve traditions, and build lasting international partnerships,’ said Spanier.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to explore joint initiatives and cultural exchanges under the broader framework of EU-Bangladesh relations.
