
The Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development celebrated the 111th birth anniversary of founding chief executive officer of the institute Akhtar Hameed Khan on Tuesday.
On the occasion, BARD officials placed a wreath at the mural of Akhtar Hameed Khan on its premises at Kotbari in Cumilla, said a press release.
Later, a discussion titled ‘Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan’s life and work’ was held where Saif Uddin Ahmed, additional secretary and director general of BARD, was present as the chief guest.
Salah Uddin Ibne Saeed, director, BARD, presented the keynote address at the discussion. The discussion was presided over by Irin Parveen, director (administration), BARD and moderated by Abdullah-al-Mamun, assistant director, BARD.
Senior cooperative members, former BARD DGs, vice-principal of Bangladesh Cooperative Academy, current faculty members, president of Academy Employees Union and students of Cumilla University also spoke.
