World football governing body FIFA handed a transfer ban on Bangladesh Premier League outfit Fakirerpool Young Men's Club for the forthcoming season for failing to clear last season’s wages to their Uzbek midfielder Sardor Jakhonov.Ìý
The transfer ban will remain effective until Fakirerpool pays the due amount of about Tk 25 lakh to Jakhonov.
The two-month transfer window will close on August 15, and Fakirerpool must settle the outstanding dues by that date; otherwise, they will be barred from participating in the BPL 2025-2026.
‘We are trying to solve the problem as soon as possible because we want to participate in the upcoming BPL,’ the club's general secretary Ahmad Ali told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Tuesday.Ìý
Ali claimed that it was the fault of the club’s previous committee, which was replaced by the current committee following the change of the government in August 2024.Ìý
‘We were not aware of the payment issue until FIFA imposed the ban. The previous committee is to blame for failing to settle the players' wages. We are now seeking to uncover the details,’ Ali stated, noting that they had not had any correspondence with FIFA prior to receiving the ban.Ìý
