Under the theme ‘live green, smile cleanly’, International Standard University students have started tree planting and clean-up programmes on its campus and adjacent areas in Dhaka.

Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Abdul Awal Khan inaugurated the programmes o the ISU campus at Mohakhali on Wednesday, said a press release.


ISU Environmental and Sustainable Development Club has organised the programmes.

The VC said, ‘Tree planting is very important to maintain environmental balance.’

Thanking the students, he said that along with tree planting, roads should be kept clean for the larger interest of the society. ‘If others like ISU also come forward like this, Dhaka will be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.’

ISU Environmental and Sustainable Development Club moderator Mahbubur Rahman said that ISU students had continued such activities to create awareness among the people to keep nature and environment healthy. ‘If we can keep a beautiful environment by cleaning plastic and polythene from the roads, it is possible to build a beautiful city.’

Also present at the event were dean of the faculty of engineering and technology, Professor Mohammad Abul Kashem, ISU registrar Md Faizullah Kaushik, chairpersons of various departments, teachers, administrative staff and students.
