
A 52-year-old man was killed after being crushed between two buses while crossing the road near Bakshi Bazar intersection in front of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka鈥檚 Chawkbazar area on early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Zahirul Haque, son of the late Abdul Majid of village Babupara in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district.
The accident took place at about 1:30am when Zahirul was on his way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to visit his younger son, who is undergoing treatment there for cancer, according to the victim鈥檚 sister, Cynthia Akter.
She said that her brother was critically injured while crossing the road between BUET and Bakshi Bazar. He was rushed to DMCH, where doctors at its emergency unit declared him dead.
Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said that the body was kept at the hospital morgue. The concerned police station has been informed for further action.
