Kushtia District Administration and Social Forestry Department jointly held a preparatory meeting to organise the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair at the deputy commissioner conference room in Kushtia on Monday.

The meeting, chaired by deputy commissioner Md Taufiqur Rahman, was attended by Kushtia additional superintendent of police for finance and administration Sikder Md Hasan Imam, divisional forest officer of Kushtia Forest Division Rezaul Alam and senior chemist of the Department of Environment Habibul Bashar, among others.


With the theme ‘Planned Afforestation, Build a Green Bangladesh’, National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2025 is being celebrated across the country.

The meeting discussed various issues, including selecting the venue for the tree fair, selecting the guests for the inaugural ceremony, organising a rally with the participation of students, maintaining law and order, power and water supply and construction of stalls.

The meeting decided to deploy adequate police to ensure security during the rally and fair and to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the stalls.

In addition, the Department of Public Health Engineering was instructed to ensure water supply and install the necessary temporary toilets.

The meeting also discussed the allocation and construction of stalls for nursery owners and institutions participating in the fair.

Taufiqur Rahman said, ‘Planned tree plantation and organising a tree fair will further accelerate environmental awareness in the district. This requires the joint efforts of all the departments concerned.’
