Three teenagers, including two madrassah students, drowned while bathing in two separate rivers in Rangpur on Sunday afternoon.
The police said that two madrassah students drowned while bathing in the River Jamuneswari near the Pakarmatha Railway Bridge at Badarganj in the district at around 2:00pm.
The deceased were Mehedi Hasan Siam, 13, son of Shakhawat Hossain of Simulbari village under Nababganj and Alif Hossain, 12, son of Aftab Hossain of Laxmanpur village under Parbatipur in Dinajpur.
They were students of Jamiatus Sunnah Darul Uloom Madrassah at Badarganj.
Officer-in-charge of Badarganj police station AKM Atiqur Rahman said that the bodies were handed over to their respective families.
In another incident, a teenager died while bathing in the River Chikli at Dholaighat under Taraganj in the district around 3:00pm.
The deceased, Tasin Ahmed, 12, was son of Ziarul Islam of Madarganj village under Badarganj.
