Captain Mohammad Abdullah scored four goals, including a hat-trick, as Bangladesh routed Sri Lanka 13-0 in their Men鈥檚 Under-18 Asia Cup 2025, Pool A match at the Dazhou National Hockey Training Centre in China on Saturday.

Apart from Abdullah, Ismail Hossain scored three times, while Din Islam and Sajedul Sajed each scored a brace, with Bishal Ahmed and Mehedi adding one goal each for Bangladesh.


The win took Moududur Rahman鈥檚 side to the top of the points table with six points after opening their campaign with a 3-0 win against Hong Kong on Thursday.

Bangladesh dominated the first quarter 3-0 and went into the half-time break with a 7-0 lead. They scored once in the third quarter before adding five more goals in the final quarter.

Din Islam gave Bangladesh the lead by scoring from a penalty corner in the eighth minute before Ismail scored a field goal in the next minute and Abdullah opened his account from a penalty corner in the 13th minute.

Abdullah completed his hat-trick by scoring two field goals in the 17th and 19th minutes, respectively. He scored another field goal in the 57th minute.

Ismail completed his treble by scoring from a penalty corner in the 24th minute and a field goal in the 46th minute, while Din Islam completed his brace with a field goal in the 22nd minute.

Sajed (50th, 60th) scored a brace from penalty corners, while Bishal (39th) scored once from a penalty corner, and Mehedi (54th) scored a field goal.

Bangladesh will play their next games against China on July 6 before facing Pakistan on July 8.

A total of 11 teams, divided into two pools, are competing in the men鈥檚 section of the tournament, with the top two teams from each pool advancing into the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh鈥檚 under-18 women鈥檚 team achieved their first win in this tournament after defeating Uzbekistan 3-0 in their second Pool A match. Bangladesh women suffered a crushing 11-0 defeat to Japan in their first match on Friday.
