A young man was stabbed to death in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia, following a dispute over the government鈥檚 Vulnerable Group Feeding welfare cards Wednesday night.
The deceased is Abdul Aziz, 30, son of Khilafat Ali from Dargatala area of Mathurapur.
Daulatpur police station officer-in-charge Md Nazmul Huda said that a man was killed over a feud over welfare card distribution.
鈥楾he situation is now under control and the body has been sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy,鈥� he added.
According to locals, there had been a long-standing dispute between two groups in Mathurapur area over VGF card applications and local dominance.
Wednesday night, Aziz was standing near Mathurapur bus stand market area when members of the rival group, armed with weapons, launched a sudden attack on him.
Witnesses said that Aziz sustained critical injuries after being stabbed, with his internal organs exposed.
Locals took him to Kushtia General Hospital, but he died to his injuries on the way.
鈥楢 drive is underway to arrest those involved in the incident,鈥� the OC added.
