
A Cumilla court on Thursday granted a three-day remand for four individuals arrested in a case filed under the Pornography Control Act over the filming and circulating video footage of a rape victim at Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla.
Judge Mominul Haque of the court granted the remand Thursday noon, court inspector Sadequr Rahman said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Muradnagar police station sub-inspector
Ruhul Amin, also the investigating officer of the case, had sought a seven-day remand for the four accused.
The accused are Sumon, Ramzan, Arif and Anik, all residents of Baherchar Panchkitta village at Muradnagar.
Earlier, on June 26 night, a Hindu woman was raped in her father鈥檚 home at Ramchandrapur Panchkitta village at Muradnagar upazila.
After the incident, alleged rapist Fazar Ali was caught and beaten by local people but he managed to flee.
Some people who were present at the scene filmed the rape victim and circulated the video on social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage among people.
Police subsequently arrested the four accused in connection with the video leak while Fazar Ali was arrested in connection with a rape case.
He is currently undergoing treatment under the police custody at Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
