Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri

Today is the 39th death anniversary of Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri, member of the then Bengal Legislative Assembly, East Bengal Provincial Assembly and the 3rd National Assembly of Pakistan.

Different organisations, including Abdul Hakim Bikrampuri Smriti Sangsad and Memorial Library, Anu Memorial Foundation and KK Government Institution in Munshiganj, took various programmes marking the day, said a press release on Thursday.


The programmes will include Qur鈥檃n recitation, milad mahfil, giving stipends to the meritorious poor students and distributing cash among the destitute.

A commemorative programme will be organised at KK Government Institution on Saturday.

Abdul Hakim, in his long political career, came in close contact with veteran leader AK Fazlul Haq, popularly known as Sher-e-Bangla.

He involved himself with the newspapers, including Saogat, Manasi, Mohammadi, Prabasi, Samyabadi and Sultan.

He was the editor of fortnightly Gramer Katha, published from Munshiganj.

Abdul Hakim鈥檚 literary works included Sahitya Katha, Paner Baraj and Prasanga Katha.
