The Indian Border Security Force shot a Bangladeshi youth to death inside India along the Sultanpur border under Darshana upazila in Chuadanga district Wednesday afternoon.
The body was, however, not handed over to the Bangladesh authorities even after 36 hours. Â
The victim, Ibrahim Babu, 32, son of Nurul Islam of Jhanjhadanga village of Parkrishnapur Madna union under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga, was shot dead at about 12:50pm on Wednesday, according to the officials of the Border Guard Bangladesh.
The commanding officer of BGB-6 Battalion in Chuadanga, Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, said that they had held two flag meetings with the BSF and lodged strong protests over the border killing.
‘In the Battalion commander level meeting, I strongly lodged written protests over the killing of the Bangladeshi youth. BSF alleged that they were smugglers and attacked BSF members and two were injured,’ said Nazmul, adding that they urged the BSF to hand over the victim’s body.
He said that the BSF-32 Battalion assured to hand over the body but did not mention when the body would be returned to us.
