A man and his son were electrocuted at Kaddipanchgaon village of Shah Mahmudpur Union in Chandpur Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased are Abdur Rob Tapdar, 60, a resident of Tapdar house in the area, and his son Sayem Tapdar, 23.
Family members said that Abdur Rob and his son went to soak jute plants in bil water next to their house at around 1.30pm. At that time, a live electric wire snapped and fell into biel water. Abdur Rob got tangled in the torn wire and got electrocuted. Sayem also got electrocuted when he tried to rescue his father.
Locals rescued and sent them to Chandpur Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
Officer-in-charge of Chandpur Sadar model police station Bahar Mia said that no one had filed any complaint regarding the incident.
