A London-based company, Sayan’s Global, expressed interest in acquiring a Bangladesh Premier League franchise under the name ‘Noakhali Royals’ on Monday.

The owner of the company, Ahmed Jamil, informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board of its desire to join the next edition of the country’s premier franchise league, slated to be played in December-January.

‘We are completely ready from our side,’ Jamil told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.

‘We hope the BCB will view our proposal positively and fulfil the expectations of the people of Noakhali.’

Jamil stated that the team must represent the district of Noakhali, stating, ‘We will not take any other name. We want to promote Noakhali.’

The matter was expected to be discussed at the board meeting on Monday.

‘There is a board meeting. In that board meeting, it will be decided whether to take a new franchise, and if so, they will tell us what documents they need,’ he added.

Meanwhile, BCB has been exploring options to expand the tournament, and Noakhali Royals may become one of the new teams in the league if the bid is approved.
