The protesting officials of the National Board of Revenue on Sunday said that they would hold a meeting with the finance adviser at about 4:00pm on the day.

However, they said that they would continue the protest till the end of the discussion with the finance adviser.


If the outcome of the discussion went in their favour, they would withdraw the movement, they said.

Moreover, they also postponed the March to NBR programme for the time being.

A 20-member delegation, 10 from taxes and 10 from customs, from the NBR Reform Unity Council, will sit with the finance adviser, to press home their demand for the removal of the NBR chairman.

Mirza Ashik Rana, senior vice-president of the unity council, confirmed the matter to the media.

Earlier, the officials of the National Board of Revenue under the NBR Reform Unity Council platform continued their ‘complete shutdown’ for the second consecutive day on Sunday morning.

The officials began their protests at about 9:00 and staged a sit-in in front of the NBR headquarters in Agargaon.

A large number of Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh, and police personnel were deployed inside the NBR building.

Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, confirmed ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that a delegation of the business leaders, including him, would also participate in the meeting.

He also said that after the meeting, they would disclose the outcome to the media.
