A fisherman and a farmer died after being electrocuted in Patuakhali and Natore on Saturday.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that a fisherman died after being electrocuted at Gandamari village under Kalapara in Patuakhali.


The deceased, Rahim Talukder, 24, son of Rahman Talukder, was a resident of the same village.

Sub-inspector of Kalapara police station Shah Alam said that as Rahim was returning home after fishing in river at midnight, he got into an auto-rickshaw standing on the side of the road due to rain.

‘The auto-rickshaw was being charged, but he did not notice it. He died inside the auto-rickshaw, after being electrocuted,’ added Shah Alam.

United News of Bangladesh reported that a farmer died from electrocution at Gurudaspur in Natore.

The deceased, Nazir Islam, 45, was a resident of Garila village under Gurudaspur.

People of the area said that Nazir went out early Saturday morning to cut grass when he accidentally came in contact with a live electric wire.

As he did not return home for a long time, his family members started searching him and later found his charred body entangled with an electric wire near a pond.

They immediately informed the local Palli Bidyut office and Palli Bidyut staff along with police recovered the body and sent it to the Natore Sadar hospital morgue.

Pond owners Monirul Islam and Kamrul Islam went into hiding.

Gurudaspur police station officer-in-charge Asmaul Haque said that legal action would be taken in this regard.
