
The 11th anniversary of death of poet Abul Hussain will be observed today, said a press release.
Born in Khulna on August 15, 1922, Abul Hussain studied at Kolkata Presidency College and Kolkata University in economics.
Abul Hussain’s works reflect his lifelong search to find a philosophical and religious position that has allowed him to analyse and try to understand individual lives in relation to society. He also spoke about the political instability and economic uncertainty of the country.
Abul Hussain’s debut collection of poem was published under the header ‘Naba Basanta’. His literary works include ‘Birash Sanglap’, ‘Duhswapna Theke Duhswapne’, ‘Haoa Tomar Ki Duhsahas’, ‘Ekhono Samay Achhe’, ‘Aar Kisher Apeksha, ‘Kaler Khatay’.
Abul Hussain’s literary works earned him national and international awards.
He also represented the country at literary festivals and conferences in India, Belgium, former Yugoslavia and the former USSR.
Abul Hussain was honoured many awards, including Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Literary Award and Padabali Award.
The poet passed away on June 29, 2014.
