
The annual general meeting and leadership handover 2025 of Badhan, a voluntary blood donation organisation, was held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Gazipur Agricultural University on Friday.
Organised by Badhan central committee and supported by GAU, the event was held under the slogan, 鈥楢 drop of blood can save a life, let blood be the bond of humanity鈥, said a press release on Saturday.
The programme was presided over by Badhan central committee president Md Shamim Gazi while GAU vice-chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman attended as chief guest.
Professor AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University, was the keynote speaker at the programme.
Professor ANM Meshquat Uddin, vice-chancellor, Royal University of Dhaka; Professor M Moynul Haque, pro-VC, GAU; Professor Md Safiul Islam Afrad, treasurer, GAU; Professor Md Aman Ullah, principal, Ananda Mohan College were present as special guests at the programme.
Delegates, advisers and members from 61 districts and GAU鈥檚 local unit of Badhan were in attendance.
The day began with annual reports from various Badhan zones, followed by the National Blood Olympiad finals and award ceremony. The second session included welcome speeches, the annual action plan, and keynote addresses.
SM Kamruzzaman Kafi of Rajshahi University was announced as president while Ahmed Reza Junayed of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology as general secretary for 2025鈥26.
AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan highlighted Badhan鈥檚 broader social role, including free blood grouping and awareness, calling on the organisation to foster tolerance and environmental responsibility while contributing to national anti-corruption efforts.
GKM Mustafizur Rahman praised Badhan as a humanitarian force. 鈥楾he name 鈥淏adhan鈥 signifies unity a vital driver of social transformation. Guided by compassion and patriotism, it will continue to fulfil its mission.鈥
