The two-day Dhaka-Chattogram road march by left political parties under the banner of ‘Anti-imperialism patriotic people’ will begin today.
The parties will hold the march in June 27–28 protesting at the interim government’s reported move to lease out the management of the New Mooring Container Terminal of Chittagong Port to foreign operators.
The march will also protest at the reported move to allow a humanitarian passage to the civil war-torn Rakhine state of Myanmar through Bangladesh.
The two-day march will start from in front of the National Press Club today at 9:30am and it will hold roadside rallies at different points in Narayanganj and Cumilla and halt in Feni for staying overnight there, according to a press release.
On the second day on Saturday, it will hold rallies in Feni, Mirsarai, Sitakunda while the concluding rally will be held in front of Chittagong Port.
Leaders of more than 50 left political parties and socio-cultural organisations are participating in the two-day road march.
The participants would travel by buses and cars from Dhaka to Chattogram, said the organisers.
