A woman was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in Dakshin Chhairakhali area under Chakaria upazila of Cox鈥檚 Bazar Monday night.
The deceased is Ismat Ara, 40, wife of M Alamgir, a resident of the same area.
A wild elephant suddenly attacked and trampled her entering their house at around 11.30pm. She died on the spot, said Mehraj Uddin, Phansiakhali range officer of the Cox鈥檚 Bazar north forest department.
The family had been living in the forest area for a long time, he said.
Chakaria upazila nirbahi officer Mohammad Atiqur Rahman visited the scene Tuesday morning and gave Tk 10,000, two blankets and emergency food items to the victim鈥檚 family.
