Three individuals, including an 18-year-old, were killed in separate violent incidents in the capital’s Khilgaon, Pallabi and Kamrangirchar between Sunday night and early Monday.

Md Sagor, 22, Mohammad Rifat, 18, and Mohammad Roky, 32, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.


According to local people and relatives, Sagor was killed in a clash over a land dispute in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area.

Sagor’s cousin Nazim Uddin said that the incident began when a man named Alimuddin went to build a wall on his own land at Khilgaon, his neighbours stopped him.

After this, a group of people vandalised the wall at about 2:00am and Alimuddin’s wife and family members were beaten up, he said.

‘When others, including Sagor, came forward, they were also beaten up. Critically injured, Sagor was taken to DMCH, where he was declared dead at about 5:00am,’ he added.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Faruk said that Sagor’s body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

In another incident, Rifat was stabbed to death during an altercation with a friend in Pallabi Section 11 at about 10:30pm on Sunday, Pallabi policen investigation inspector Mohammad Qayyum said, adding that no case was filed regarding the incident yet.

His friend Asif stabbed him during a quarrel in Banarasi Palli area of ​​Mirpur 11, Rifat’s father Mohammad Shahin said, adding that he was not sure what they were quarrelling about.

‘At one point, Asif stabbed Rifat in the left side of his stomach. He was first taken to a nearby hospital and later to DMCH, where he was declared dead,’ he added.

In yet another incident in Kamrangirchar, a person named Mohammad Roky, 32, was stabbed to death allegedly by a rival over past enmity.

Quoting the witnesses, Roky’s neighbour Rubel said that the incident occurred at about 12:00 midnight past Sunday, leaving Roky seriously injured.

Later, he was taken to DMCH, where he was declared dead at about 1:00am.
