The four-day group art exhibition of the artists with disabilities ended at the gallery of Safiuddin Shilpalay at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Monday.

To mark the 103rd anniversary of the birth of Safiuddin Ahmed, Safiuddin Shilpalay held the exhibition titled Rang Rekha Barne Chande – Katbe Din Mangalaloke.


Jointly curated by executive director of Safiuddin Shilpalay artist Nahida Sharmin and Safiuddin Printmaking Studio co-ordinator MFI Mazumder Shakil and supervised by artist Roosevelt Benjamin D’Rozario, the exhibition featured 40 artworks of 20 artists.

Artists, among others, Fariha Samhi Neethi, Haowa Akter, Sajjadur Rashid Rabin, Sultana Esaba Nayar and Tahsin Ahmed Aquib participated in the exhibition.

They depicted landscape, nature, daily life, village fair, urban chaos and motifs of floral and folks in their artworks.

Besides, the exhibition also featured artists’ exercise books, which depicted their practice during the yearlong incentives provided by the Safiuddin Shilpalay.

On the closing day, a printmaking workshop was held jointly conducted by MFI Mazumder Shakil and Roosevelt Benjamin D’Rozario.

‘Safiuddin Shilpalay provided art materials to the artists with disabilities and supervised them round the year,’ Roosevelt said, adding that the printmaking workshop would add new language in their practice.
