A fisherman was killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between two fishing boats triggered by rough waves near the Teknaf coast in Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Friday.
The deceased, Helal Uddin, 22, was a resident of West Khonkar Para area in the upazila.
The incident occurred near the Khonkar Para coconut garden boat landing point adjacent to the Marine Drive, as the boats were returning from the sea after a fishing trip.
A resident of the area, Rafique Uddin, said that the two boats were attempting to dock when strong waves caused them to collide with each other. 鈥楽everal fishermen were injured in the head-on collision.鈥�
Helal Uddin, who was critically injured, died on the way to the hospital, he added.
Teknaf police sub-inspector Khokon Kanti Rudra said that amid rough sea conditions, two fishing boats collided while returning from the sea. 鈥極ne fisherman died and several others sustained injuries.鈥�
