
In recognition of outstanding contribution to wildlife conservation and research, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change officially nominated two individuals and two organisations in four categories for the National Wildlife Conservation Award 2025, said a press release.
According to the official gazette published on Wednesday, the nominees are Md Fazle Rabbi from Purbo Madhanagar at Naldanga upazila in Natore in wildlife conservation (individual) category, Sherpur Bird Conservation Society in wildlife conservation (institution/organisation) category, Jahangirnagar University Zoology professor Md Monowar Hossain in wildlife education and research (individual) category and the Department of Zoology at the University of Dhaka in wildlife education and research (institution) category.
As per the award guidelines, each awardee will receive a gold medal weighing 2 bharis (23.32 grams) of gold, a cheque of Tk 1,00,000 and a certificate of honour.
The ministry believes that the national recognition will enhance public awareness and engagement with wildlife conservation, research, and environmental education, the release said.
