The police arrested a security guard of an ATM booth on Monday night on charge of raping a 14-year-old girl inside the booth at Sripur in Gazipur on the same day.
Confirming the matter, Sripur police officer-in-charge Mohammad Abdul Barik said that the accused Liton Miah was arrested in the Ansar Road area in Sripur at about 10:00pm on Monday during an operation.
Liton was produced before the court on Tuesday, he said.
According to the case statement, Md Liton Mia, a security guard at the ATM booth next to the Talha Spinning Factory in Mulaid village under the upazila raped the girl inside the ATM booth at 10:30am on Sunday.
Receiving assurances about a better-paying job from Liton for the girl, the victim鈥檚 father sent her to the booth, where Liton raped her in a small room inside the booth.
Later, the girl went home and revealed that Liton had raped her inside the booth.
Later that night, the victim鈥檚 father filed a case against Liton with the Sripur police.
鈥楢fter the complaint was filed, Liton went into hiding and frequently changed his locations to evade arrest,鈥� OC Abdul Barik said, adding that they have launched a major operation and used advanced technology to track his movements.
