The National Citizen Party on Tuesday served a show-cause notice on its joint convener Sarwar Tushar over alleged moral turpitude.
‘An allegation of moral turpitude has been raised against you. Convener Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhter Hossain have sought your specific position on and explanation for the matter,’ read the notice, signed by the party’s joint member secretary (office) Saleh Uddin Sifat.
The notice asked the accused leader to explain to the party’s political council and to the probe committee formed to investigate the allegation in writing within five days why organisational action would not be taken against him.
It also instructed him to refrain from all organisational activities of the party until the matter was resolved.
The notice was issued a day after a phone conversation allegedly between the accused and a female party leader went viral on Facebook on Monday.
