‘TEAM ABABIL’ from the Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh has secured the 16th position among 40 international finalist teams at the 20th Annual CanSat Competition held in Virginia in the United States recently.

Vice-chancellor of the university, Air-Vice-Marshall, AKM Manirul Bahar, congratulated the team on this historic success, said a press release on Monday.

The CanSat competition is recognised globally as a launchpad for future aerospace engineers. In this note, ‘TEAM ABABIL’ designed a CanSat  that simulate a science payload satellite, which could survive atmospheric descent, collect sensor data, and execute mission objectives like air brake deployment and telemetry transmission – all under strict time and design constraints.

‘TEAM ABABIL’s performance in the global student design-build-launch competition placed them ahead of many teams from technological advanced universities of the countries, including  the US, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and India.

The team was led by faculty adviser assistant professor Md Samin Rahman, under the department of avionics engineering at AAUB.
