The body of a 27-year-old housewife was recovered from a rented apartment in Dhaka鈥檚 Uttar Badda area Sunday night.
The deceased is Sumi Akter, daughter of Md Hanif Hawlader and Mahinur Begum of Dumki upazila in Patuakhali.
Sub-inspector Fatema Siddika Soma of Badda police station said that they recovered the body at around 10:45pm from a second-floor flat after being informed by locals.
She had been living in the flat for the last three to four months, the SI added.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Sumi might have been strangled to death, the police officer observed.
鈥楾he actual cause of death will be known once the autopsy report is available,鈥� said SI Soma.
According to the house owner, Sumi鈥檚 husband used to visit the flat occasionally and he often heard the couple quarrelling.
Family members alleged that Sumi was murdered by her husband who has remained missing since the incident.
After completing legal formalities, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
