
Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange and the Chittagong Stock Exchange on Monday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE gained 59.7 points to settle at 4,784 points as against 4,724 points in the previous trading session. Shariah-compliant DSES index went up 1.62 per cent to end at 1,045.39 points, while the DS30, which tracks blue-chip stocks, increased by 0.90 per cent to 1,787.53 points.
Market turnover crossed Tk 4 billion after nearly 1.5 months, rising by 58.7 per cent from that of the previous session.
On the sectoral front, food (19.1 per cent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by bank (12.9 per cent) and pharma (11.6 per cent) sectors.Â
All the sectors displayed positive returns, out of which jute (4.6 per cent), IT (4.5 per cent) and cement (3.4 per cent) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today.Â
Out of the 397 issues traded, 312 advanced, 36 declined and 49 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose by 38.2 points and 60.0 points respectively.
