A Bangladesh Nationalist Party activist has been hacked to death over past enmity in Naria upazila of Shariatpur.

The deceased Abu Siddique Dhali, 55, was the son of Safijaddir Dhali of Chandani area of Bhojeshwar.


He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Friday morning after he was attacked in front of Chandani Chhayal on his way back home Thursday night.

Locals rescued him after the attack and took him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. From there doctors sent him to DMCH and he died while undergoing treatment at the health facility.

According to family and local sources, Abu Siddique was involved in BNP politics for a long time.

Naria upazila Swechchhasebak Dal convener Sharif Wahiduzzaman Ujjal said that the attack was pre-planned. The murder was committed to take political revenge.

The deceased’s brother, Jubo Dal leader Julhas Dhali, said that his brother was not involved with any crime. They wanted justice for the murder.

Naria circle additional superintendent of police Ashiq Mahmud said that after receiving the information, they visited the scene.

‘Currently, additional police are deployed in the area. Legal action will be taken after the investigation,’ he added.
