Sonargaon History, Heritage and Antiquities Preservation Committee held a human chain, demanding the renovation and protection of ancient architectural monument Company-ka Bridge, at Sonargaon in Narayanganj on Friday.
Chaired by poet Shahed Kayes, convener of the Sonargaon History, Heritage and Antiquities Preservation Committee, speakers said that the Company-ka Bridge was on the verge of destruction due to carelessness and neglect.
They also demanded immediate renovation and protection of this treasure, said a press release.
The programme, moderated by joint convener of the committee journalist Mizanur Rahman Mamun,聽 was attended by, among others, poet Rahman Mujib, Sonargaon Press Club vice-president Fazle Rabbi Sohel, Sonargaon History, Heritage and Antiquities Preservation Committee member-secretary writer and journalist Rabiul Husain, cultural activist and banker Matiur Rahman, Sonargaon Sahitya Niketan president Asma Akhtari, finance secretary Selim Ahmed Prodhan, organising secretary Mofakhkhar Sagar, education and research secretary Moazzenul Haque, information and technology secretary Ershad Husain and executive member Rokeya Akhter Baby.
Journalists Imran Hossain, businessman Md Mohiuddin, teacher Shamima Nasrin, organiser Khadija Akhter, Russell Ahmed and Iskandar Ali Alvi also attended the programme.
