At least three people were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram and Narayanganj on Friday.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two friends were killed when their motorcycle hit the back of a dumper truck at Maulvi Dokan area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway under Satkhania upazila of Chattogram in the morning.


The deceased are Md Rafi Chowdhury, son of Nazim Uddin Liton and Md Bappi, son of Md Babul. Both hailed from the city’s Badamtal Bahaddarhat area.

According to family sources, Rafi and Bappi along with some friends left their Bahaddarhat residences for Bandarban on a motorcycle at around 6:00am.

Rafi and Bappi were on the motorcycle when they reached the Maulvi Dokan area at around 8:00am. The vehicle hit the back of a dumper truck parked next to the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway, leaving both of them seriously injured.

At that time, other friends in their group with the help of locals took Rafi Chowdhury to the Dohazari health complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Bappi was taken to a private hospital in Keranihat, where he died to his injuries.

Dohazari highway police station officer-in-charge Shuvranjan Chakma said that the bodies were handed over to their families after completing legal procedures.

Meanwhile, a fish trader was killed when a local motorised vehicle, Nasiman, overturned in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj, said another BSS report.

The deceased is Ali Akbar, 65, son of late Ismail from Uchitpura village under the upazila.

The incident occurred in Gahardi area on Uchitpura-Ramchandradi road in the morning.

Araihazar police station OC Khandaker Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter.

According to eyewitnesses, Ali Akbar was traveling with his two sons in a Nasiman towards Bhulta. The vehicle overturned and fell onto a roadside ditch as he lost control of the steering in the area, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and sent to Araihazar upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

‘Legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed by the victim’s family,’ OC Nasir said.
